Our oldest grand-daughter Makayla is perched on the front stoop near the hydrangea. We love to have guests enjoy the beautiful gardens... and sometimes we even send them home with some special plants that they admire.

The white garden was a success!

Martha Wetherbee Shaker Basket Making Weekend - August 15, 16 and 17, 2008
at Sculptured Rocks Farm

Shaker Confection Nesting Set - #10 new design largest size - First class even of this basket
We don't even have a picture yet - the above picture is of the three smaller size baskets
Shaker fancy baskets like these were made during the Victorian era and sold in the Shaker gift shops. The Confection basket is woven from the same materials and using the same design ratios as the original. Students learn to shape the classic cathead bottom on a wooden mold using hand-pounded brown ash. The basket is topped with an elegant underarched cherry handle and rims and finished with a double lashing. This time around we will make the smaller two baskets of a three basket set. Previous basketmaking experience required. Martha will share historical tidbits about the Shakers and their basketmaking in her own fun style of storytelling.
Price to be announced.
