Newfound Audubon Center, a local committee of the New Hampshire Audubon, is holding the first annual Fairy/Gnome House Festival and Tour. The event runs Friday and Saturday, August 13 & 14, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, rain or shine. Admission will be $5 for children and $10 for adults.
The purpose of the event is to create an endowment fund for the preservation of Ash Cottage in Hebron. This quaint cottage overlooking Newfound Lake is the home of the Newfound Audubon Center and is used for the education of children to expand their knowledge of nature and our lake environment. It is also the site of our Nature Store.
Activities will include:
Tracy Kane, a noted author of fairy house books, will read from her award-winning Fairy House Series.
Tour of fairy houses built by children and adults at both Hebron Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary or at the Beaver Trail Meadow and at the Paradise Point Nature Center & Wildlife Sanctuary.
Music, children dancers, arts and craft tent, bird house building tent, fairy apparel tent, lots of food and other things to do.
Join a group of volunteers building a big gnome fort.
